Pakistan eyes' Sri Lanka after England. Why they may win?

Update: 2019-06-06 13:40 GMT
Pakistan defeated England by 14 runs. Will they be able to tie down Sri lanka too?

Pakistan has emerged like a tough competitor in the World Cup 2019 by thrashing their opponents when they shattered their 11-match losing streak against World No. 1 One-Day International team, England.

Safaraz Ahmed’s men are now eyeing towards tying Sri Lanka that too had a rough start just like Pakistan. The two nations would fight it out on Friday (June 7). The match is happening in the Country Ground where Australia and Afghanistan got assistance from the pitch which means we can expect the fast bowling units to do well.

Since, both the teams have strong pace bowlers, it’ll be on the batsmen to be the deciding factors of the match. Suranga Lakmal, Nuwan Pradeep, Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz are seen at their top game which means that Sri Lankan batsmen will have to play their best bat to hit some big shots to counter-attack Pakistan’s aggressive nature.

However, Pakistani batsmen have showed that they have got their skills in the right place as they have successfully tackled fast paced bowlers such as Jofra Archer, Chris Woakes and Mark Wood. So it can be another deciding factor that they have an upper hand over their Sri Lankan opponents and that they can chase down whatever target is set for them.

If Pakistan happens to bat first, their main focus would be to put big numbers on the board which can be easily restricted by its bowlers to tie down Sri Lanka and put them under-pressure. Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur has urged his team to “stay ruthless” at the World Cup and that can be easily achieved, looking back at the way they defeated the hosts by 14 runs.

The two Asian countries would be looking horns at 3 PM IST at Bristol.
