After India sealed the three-match T20I series against England with an unassailable 2-0 lead on Saturday (July 9), there was a surprise visitor to the team’s dressing room at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Former captain MS Dhoni, who is currently in England, visited the Indian change room after the Rohit Sharma-led side defeated the host by 49 runs.

The official Twitter handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared pictures of Dhoni interacting with youngsters including Ishan Kishan, who was dropped for the game.

The BCCI captained the post, “Always all ears when the great @msdhon talks!”.

IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) too shared Dhoni’s image and wrote, “‘Keeping’ in touch with the Youngbloods!”.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant too posted a picture of him posing with Dhoni.

On July 7, Dhoni celebrated his 41st birthday in England. The birthday bash was attended by some of the Indian cricketers including Pant, Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj.

Talking about the match, India won its fourth successive series under Rohit’s captaincy. India scored 170/8 and later bowled out the opposition for 121.

“We are moving in the right direction and ticking the right boxes,” said the skipper after the match.

Rohit spoke about the powerplay where India did well, both with bat and ball.

“We do understand the importance of the powerplay, whether we bat or bowl. Our powerplay in both games was superb and want to give guys confidence to continue,” he said.

“When you win games, it’s always nice. The group is also confident, which is very important. We will look to continue and focus on what lies ahead. Wanted to see how we do after a win and will look to challenge us as a group,” he added.

Losing captain Jos Buttler said it was “very disappointing”.

“We didn’t play anywhere well we wanted and deserved to lose. Any time you lose three wickets in the powerplay it is hard to catch up,” he said.

The third and final T20I of the series will be played today (July 10) in Nottingham.
