India match aside, Bangladesh takes on the Kiwis in World Cup 2019

The world is looking at India’s big opener against South Africa, but it shouldn’t go unnoticed that another big game starts at 6 pm today when Bangladesh will try their best to take on New Zealand at The Oval, London.

The day-night game will turn out to be an interesting one as both the teams have delivered two comprehensive victories in the opening matches of this World Cup. Bangladesh is expected to keep their best foot forward and carry their first-win confidence up their sleeve. New Zealand, on the other hand, will focus on their bowling attack that blocks every possible big over the boundary hit.

Putting up runs on board is the only key for one of the two teams to keep their victory streak on point. A good start can prove to be a game-changer for the both the Kiwis and the Bangla Tigers.

Their last encounter was when Bangladesh was forced to cut short their New Zealand tour because of the Christchurch mosque shootings. Most of the team and some staff were heading to the mosque for Friday prayers and narrowly avoided the attack that killed 51 people.

The Kiwis will look to burnish the flying records of Bangladesh. The teams have played nine games since the last World Cup and Kane Williamson’s men have won seven of them. Perhaps, the most interesting moments will be when New Zealand’s aggressive quicks lock horns with Bangladesh’s commendable top order.

Pace has certainly been the spell this World Cup, but spin should play a bigger part this time and this can be an area of advantage for Bangladesh. With New Zealand’s leading wicket-taker Mitchell Santner ready to play his role in the spin game to turn the tables, if the ball turns as well as it is expected, then Bangladesh will have an advantage over the defensive Kiwis.
