India beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets with Rohit's blitzkrieg

Bouncing back from Sunday’s defeat, India on Thursday (November 7) defeated Bangladesh by eight wickets in the second T20 at Rajkot, with skipper Rohit Sharma scoring 85 runs off only 43 balls.

Batting first, Bangladesh put up a decent and defendable total of 153 runs with valuable knocks from Liton Das, Mohammad Naim, Soumya Sarkar and Mahmadullah.

India started on a confident note with a 118 run first-wicket partnership. Opener Rohit Sharma’s 85 and Shikhar Dhawan’s 31 had already sealed the fate of the match. India had won the toss and opted to field in the second T20 International at Rajkot on Thursday.

Bangladesh openers Liton Das and Mohammad Naim started off well, building a 60-run partnership before Das was run out by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.

As wickets fell in quick succession, Soumya Sarkar and Mahmadullah tried to save the face, but spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar kept the line tight and gave little room for the Bangla tigers to score. In the end the visitors were restricted to 153, a good 20-30 runs short of a formidable total.

Rohit Sharma, playing his 100th T20, let loose his blade from the word go, slashing six sixes and six fours and taking India beyond 100 in no time. At one point, he went after Mosaddek Hossain, hitting three sixes in three consecutive balls, and looked like he was far from finished.

But Aminul Islam struck in his last over and Rohit fell to a catch by substitute Mohammad Mithun at deep midwicket. The captain was declared the Man of the Match.
