Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer on Sunday (March 29) said that his most memorable moment with wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni was when the two-time World Cup-winning skipper told he wanted to “make ₹30 lakh from playing cricket and live peacefully in Ranchi.”

While answering a fan’s question on Twitter, Jaffer revealed that he shared dressing room with the former Indian captain.

“In his 1st or 2nd year in Indian team, I remember he said, he wants to make ₹30 lakh from playing cricket so he can live peacefully rest of his life in Ranchi,” Jaffer, who retired from all forms of cricket earlier this month tweeted.

Even as Dhoni has not sported the national jersey since the 2019 World Cup semi-final game that India lost to New Zealand, his fan following goes beyond the boundaries of a stadium.

The Chennai Super Kings captain was expected to take to the field in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic gripping across the globe the tournament was suspended until April 15 leaving the glitzy sporting affair under a cloud of uncertainty.
