Gujarat Titans (GT) marched into their second successive IPL final, a new record, after defeating Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2 in Ahmedabad on Friday night (May 26). GT will face Chennai Super Kings in the title clash on Sunday.

Shubman Gill’s (60-ball 129, 7×4, 10×6) sensational hundred, his third in IPL 2023, and paceman Mohit Sharma’s five-wicket haul (5/10) gave GT a comprehensive 62-run victory after posting 233/3. Gill was dropped on 30 by Tim David and that proved costly. MI were all out for 171. GT are the first team to make two successive IPL finals in their first two seasons. GT, in their debut season in 2022, won the title. Gill’s 129 is the highest score in IPL playoffs, beating Virender Sehwag’s 122.

In this podcast, Aprameya C of The Federal talks to senior cricket writer R Kaushik who was at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Kaushik shares his thoughts on GT’s big win, the rise of Gill, Mohit’s incredible comeback, and what to expect in the final. Listen to the full podcast here.
