Have lockdowns helped postpone deaths, according to mathematical models?

As several states like Jharkhand and West Bengal have extended lockdown till July 31 and some more states are considering further extension, the effect the lockdown has had in curbing the rise in COVID cases and deaths is questionable.

Professor Suvrat Raju of the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences says that the lockdown has failed to postpone deaths according to mathematical models. Click below to listen.
