Today (June 25) marks the 39th anniversary of India’s landmark 1983 cricket World Cup win. The Kapil Dev-led team stunned the mighty West Indies in the final at Lord’s to win India’s first-ever cricket World Cup.

A watershed moment in Indian cricket history, the 1983 win inspired a generation of youngsters to take up the sport.
