Today my daughter, tomorrow someone else: Aishe Ghosh's dad

Hours after JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh was attacked inside the university campus by masked assailants, her father said the situation being volatile across the country someone else would be beaten up the next day.

“The situation of the country is volatile. We are afraid as my daughter has been attacked. Tomorrow someone else will be beaten up. Who knows, even I may be beaten up tomorrow,” Ghosh’s father was quoted as saying by IANS.

The JNUSU president’s mother extended full support to her daughter and demanded the vice-chancellor’s resignation. She said she won’t ask her to back out of the protests.

Her father said he has not spoken to Ghosh directly and that he was informed about the incident by others. “Others there told me of the incident, that there was violence. The peaceful movement was raging for long. There were multiple stitches on her head. We are worried,” he said.

He further said Leftists face resistance everywhere. “She is with the Left movement. Everybody everywhere tries to resist Left movement,” he said.

Meanwhile, her mother rapped vice-chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar for failing to start a direct dialogue with the students protesting against the fee hike. Demanding his resignation, she said, “He is not doing anything. He is not entering into a dialogue with the students. So many incidents are taking place,” she said.

“There are so many boys and girls with her in this movement. They are all injured, some more, some less. I will never ask her to back out of the protests,” she added.
