Sterlite Copper appoints new CEO, says report

The plant was closed in 2018 on state government orders after death of more than a dozen people in police firing on villagers who were protesting pollution from the facility

A statement from Sterlite Copper said Pankaj Kumar has been appointed as its new chief executive officer (CEO) on March 15, according to a news report. P Ramnath, who led the Tuticorin-based company for the past eight years has retired from the role of CEO but will stay on in the capacity of senior advisor, said the report.

A statement from the company said Pankaj has nearly 29 years of industry experience and that he has previously worked at Hindustan Zinc, Tata Steel, Adani Ports and Mittal Steel.
