VK Sasikala, trusted aide of late Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa, will be released from hospital on Sunday January 31.
The Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute released a statement saying she is asymptomatic. “She’s conscious and alert. Her vital parameters are stable and blood sugar levels under control. She is maintaining saturation without oxygen and is walking with support. She is being continuously monitored,” the statement read.

The expelled AIADMK leader was taken to Victoria Hospital on January 20 after complaints of breathlessness and fever. She was later diagnosed with Covid-19. On January 27, she was released from Parappanna Agrahara prison, where she served a four-year sentence over a disproportionate assets case. Her release from prison was celebrated by her supporters in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
On February 15, 2017, following the death of Jayalalithaa, Sasikala was convicted by the Supreme Court in a Rs 66 crore, 21-year-old disproportionate assets case.
Sasikala will be staying in Bengaluru for a week and will then leave for Chennai.
