Salman Khan takes drugs...there are drugs in Bollywood: Baba Ramdev

Right-wing groups never miss an opportunity to attack a soft-target like Bollywood. Now, yoga proponent Baba Ramdev too seems to have joined this anti-Bollywood bandwagon by accusing Salman Khan of taking drugs and citing the case of the arrest of Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, to drive home the nexus between Bollywood and drugs, at the launch of an anti-drug campaign in Moradabad in UP.

On Saturday (October 15), yoga guru Ramdev’s controversial speech on Bollywood and drugs went viral. Speaking at the launch of an anti-drugs campaign in Uttar Pradesh, he appeared to blame the Indian film industry and stars for the proliferation of drugs.

“Shah Rukh Khan’s son (Aryan Khan) was caught doing drugs at a drug party. He went to jail. Salman Khan takes drugs. I don’t know about Aamir Khan. God knows about these actors,” Ramdev told a large gathering, who were attending a three-day “Aryaveer Sammelan’.

Further, he questioned the number of film stars taking drugs. “And actresses – even worse. In the film industry, it is drugs everywhere. There are drugs in Bollywood, drugs in politics,” he said.

Also, in his rant, he spoke of how liquor is distributed during elections. “We should take a vow that India must be free from every drug addiction. For this, we will launch a movement,” stressed Ramdev.

None of the celebrities he named has responded. Aryan Khan, who was arrested last year in the “drugs-on-cruise” case, was later cleared of any charges due to lack of evidence. After Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide in 2020, several film personalities were questioned in an investigation of an alleged “Bollywood-drugs nexus” but nothing much has come out of that probe as well.
