Rishi Kapoor's daughter to travel by road from Delhi to Mumbai for last rites

The Delhi Police has granted permission to Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, daughter of actor Rishi Kapoor who passed away on Thursday (April 30), to travel to Mumbai by road for his last rites amid the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) R P Meena was quoted in a PTI report saying that along with Riddhima Kapoor, five other people namely, Bharat Sahni, Samara Sahni, Drigalakshmi Rai and Akshayy Sahni have received permission to travel to Mumbai by road.

Rishi Kapoor’s daughter, Riddhima Kapoor is married to businessman Bharat Sahni and has a daughter named Samara Sahni. She is the elder sister of actor Ranbir Kapoor. She stays in the national capital and could not be present in Mumbai when her father was hospitalised, due to restrictions of the COVID-19 lockdown.


Rishi Kapoor, the 67-year old actor, is considered to be the original chocolate boy of Bollywood and redefined romance in cinema. He was sufferingg from cancer and was taking treatment in the US earlier. On April 29, he was admitted to HN Reliance Hospital, Mumbai after health complications. Rishi Kapoor’s death comes one day after his D-Day co-star Irrfan Khan died in Mumbai, due to cancer.
