Poll strategist Prashant Kishor recently gave a detailed presentation to the Congress’ top brass at a meeting chaired by Sonia Gandhi on the way forward for 2024 general elections, while expressing readiness to join the party.
Kishor said the Congress cannot be allowed to die. “The Indian National Congress cannot be allowed to die. It can only die with the nation,” he said on Thursday.

According to a report in India Today, this is Kishor’s advice to Congress:
1. The party needs to resolve its leadership crisis for once.
2. Alliances need to be decided fast.
3. The party must return to its previous ideals.
4. The Congress should mobilize its workers and leaders at the grassroots level.
5. The party needs a better and more effective communication system.
The poll strategist has not officially joined the Congress yet, but he is understood to have delivered a blueprint for the Congress’s revival, clearly hinting that he may join the party sooner or later.

Kishor spoke of the present state of the party, its strengths and weaknesses. On the dwindling fortunes of the Grand Old Party, Kishor reminded the top leadership that the party had just 90 MPs in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and 800 MLAs in the country. While the party enjoys power in three states, it is sharing power with other parties in three more states. In 13 states it plays the role of the main opposition, said Kishor, adding that the Congress’ vote share has dropped consistently since 1984.
