Former president Pranab Mukherjee, who had last week tested COVID-19 positive and underwent brain surgery, continues to be on ventilator support and there has been no change in his health condition, said Army’s Research and Referral hospital on Tuesday (August 18). Doctors attending on him said his vital parameters are stable.

The 84-year-old former president was admitted to the military hospital in Delhi Cantonment on August 10. He underwent a surgery for the removal of a clot in the brain and has been in a coma ever since.

“There is no change in the medical condition of Shri Pranab Mukherjee. He continues to be on ventilator support and his vital parameters are stable,” said the hospital in a statement.

Mukherjee served as the 13th President of India from 2012 to 2017. He was conferred India’s highest civilian honour, Bharat Ratna, in 2019 by President Ram Nath Kovind.
