Based on reports submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Narendra Modi has cracked the whip and asked the Union minister’s kin not to be seen with undesirable elements. The order was given by Modi during the first Cabinet meet after they won the second term in 2019.

Sources say that intelligence inputs were given to Modi’s office after daughters and sons of senior Union ministers were seen at parties and social gatherings hosted by embassies, which was also attended by some “undesirable” elements.

Sources say that Modi also asked his cabinet ministers why their children were running non-governmental organisations (NGO) and where they got funds to run them. It has also come to light that Modi also warned Union ministers to be careful when they meet business leaders or middlemen.

“You may not know, they conduct sting operations and leak it to television. It leads to controversies, which will need my intervention. I do not want such characters in my council of ministers,” Modi told his ministers. Interestingly, the prime minister had told this to his cabinet in 2014 too. It is also learnt that Modi referred to the 2G spectrum allocation and Commonwealth Games scam to highlight how it had put the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government in a fix.
