Petrol, diesel prices hiked for 10th consecutive day; higher rates in Delhi

Petrol and diesel rates were hiked for the tenth straight day on Tuesday (June 16) after an 82-day break from the rate revision, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Petrol and diesel rates were hiked for the tenth straight day on Tuesday (June 16) after an 82-day break from the rate revision, amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Petrol price is hiked by 47 paise per litre, while diesel by record is hiked by 93 paise per litre.

However, the petrol and diesel rates are higher in the national capital, Delhi. Increased by ₹0.47, petrol is now priced at ₹76.73 per litre. On the other hand, diesel rates increased by ₹0.57, is now priced at ₹75.19 per litre.


Over the last 10 days, petrol and diesel prices have gone up by ₹5.47 and ₹5.8 respectively.

Meanwhile, in Bengaluru, petrol will now cost 49 paise more per litre, while diesel will be costlier by 54 paise per litre. With the recent hike, petrol will cost ₹79.22 per litre, while diesel will cost ₹71.49 per litre in Bengaluru. The rates have been increased across the country and vary from one state to another, depending upon the incidence of local sales tax or VAT.
