Pak drone spotted trespassing into India, BSF put on high alert

Following the sighting of a drone in Indian air space near the Punjab border on Monday (October 7), security forces have been put on high alert.

The drone was sighted flying near a check post on the Hussainiwala border in Ferozepur, Punjab.

According to The Hindustan Times, the drone was seen crossing the Indian border from Pakistan at 12:25 am on Tuesday midnight. Prior to that, it was spotted flying along the border between 10 pm and 10:40 pm.

The spotting led to the launch of search operations by the  Border Security Force (BSF), the Punjab police and other agencies. The search operation, since Tuesday morning, is yet to conclude whether the drones were used to supply drugs or ammunitions.

This comes a week after Punjab government recovered two drones used for dropping weapons from across the border. While one drone was recovered last month (September 22) another one was seized in a burnt condition nearly a fortnight ago from Jhabal town in Tarn Taran, according to India Today.

Earlier, the security agencies confirmed that Pakistan had used drones, to send arms and ammunition using the Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) network, in the second week of September.
