Police conducted flag marches and security personnel spread out across the northeastern edge of Delhi.

A day after seven persons were killed in the violence that erupted in northeast Delhi over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, an NGO approached the Delhi High Court on Tuesday seeking registration of an FIR and arrest of persons involved in it.

The petition, filed by NGO Human Rights Legal Network (HRLN), also sought compensation for those killed and injured in the violence and setting up of a Special Investigation Team, besides an inquiry by a retired judge into the violence.

It has also sought directions to the Centre for deployment of the Army to maintain law and order in the national capital and areas where the “communal attack on people are most ferocious”. The petition is likely to be mentioned before the high court.
