The neighbour of Rhea Chakraborty who had claimed on television that the actor met her beau Sushant Singh Rajput on June 13, a day before his death, has reportedly failed to substantiate the claim before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), NDTV reported quoting sources.

The agency has reportedly warned her against spreading false information.

Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde said the claim was a baseless rumour and the CBI recorded the statement of the neighbour Dimple Thawani on Sunday (October 11).

Rhea who on September 9 was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and sent to judicial custody on charges of procuring drugs for Sushant, was released on bail on October 7. Her questioning by three investigating agencies – CBI, NCB and ED – had been paired with heavy social media backlash, with many holding her responsible for the Sushant’s death.

After her release, her lawyer has said that they will take legal action against all those who made misleading claims against Rhea in the media like Dimple.

“We will be forwarding a list of people to CBI who made fake and false claims on TV and Electronic Media including carrying mobile recording and fake stories on SSR case with particular reference to Rhea Chakraborty to go after them and record their statements. We will request CBI to take legal proceedings against them for misleading the investigations,” Maneshinde said.

“It’s a baseless rumour by a fan, who is part of the media circus and wants to share the limelight with others who claim to know SSR. Her statement was recorded by CBI today and you will all be glad to know what she said to CBI in her statement. I would request all honest Journalists to go to her now and record what she has to say. Satya Meva Jayate,” he said referring to Dimple’s allegations.

Granting her bail, the Bombay High Court had rubbished the NCB’s claim that Rhea was “an active member of a drug syndicate.”

The court, however, placed several conditions before the actor for the bail. She has to furnish a bail amount of ₹1 lakh and mark her presence at the nearest police station for 10 days. The court has also asked the actor to surrender her passport.

Sushant’s father KK Singh in his FIR with the Bihar police had accused Rhea of siphoning money from his bank account and leading him to suicide.
