The above normal temperatures in the national capital region and northwest India will continue till June 20, after which it likely to dip, said a senior Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

Monsoons are expected in many parts of India soon. A low-pressure system is expected to form in the Bay of Bengal, which will strengthen the easterlies and that can bring rain. Anand Sharma, Deputy Director-General, IMD, said that in Delhi-NCR, the weather is very uncomfortable due to humidity and heat as a result of above normal temperatures.

At the isolated places in West Rajasthan, IMD has issued a heatwave warning. Monsoon has arrived in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, while Gorakhpur has received good rainfall in the last 24 hours.

IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in areas like Goa, Konkan and central Maharashtra during next the 24 hours.

Rainfall intensity is predicted to increase in eastern India and heavy downpour is expected from June 17-19. Many parts of West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to be lashed with heavy rainfall during the next five days.
