Zomato delivery guys ostensibly don’t just deliver food. An MBA student, Aman Khandelwal, came up with an innovative way to send out his resume to a couple of start-ups in Bengaluru—by delivering them in a box of pineapple pastries and dressed up as a Zomato delivery executive.

Khandelwal, who has completed his MBA from the Institute of Management Development and Research (IMDR), Pune, is looking for a management trainee position or APM role. So, he took to Twitter to show how he went about applying for jobs in Bengaluru. First, he posted the photograph of him wearing a Zomato T-shirt and a box of pastries on Twitter. A note attached to the box read, “Most resumes end up in the trash. But mine in your belly.”

“Dressed as a Zomato delivery boy, I delivered my resume in a box of pastry. Delivered it to a bunch of startups in Bengaluru,” he tweeted.

In the second tweet, he shared the link to his LinkedIn profile. Twitter users loved his approach. Many praised him for his “out-of-the-box thought” calling it commendable. They felt he has the entrepreneur stuff in  him and a bright future ahead of him and anyone who hires him is lucky.

Many also advised him to have patience, and said that he would find his dream job soon. One user said, “You have a different unique vision, someone who understands your visions will soon connect you.” Some appreciated the fact that he had chosen pineapple pastries over the typical chocolate ones.

However, he also got a few brickbats. One user accused him of stealing the idea from another guy in the US who had tried the same stunt. Another user said she found it crazy and cringe. One user said, “This is an exact template of a guy who delivered a resume with doughnuts in the US. “ And added, that he should have delivered biriyani.

Another user felt there were better ways of getting noticed. But, Zomato itself gave a thumbs down to his post. Saying that they hoped his gig had landed something meaningful, they said the impersonation was not so cool. “The idea was great, execution – top of the line, impersonation – not so cool.”
