Lalji Tandon, the governor of Madhya Pradesh, died on Tuesday (July 21) morning after a prolonged illness.
His son Ashutosh Tandon, who is a state minister in Uttar Pradesh, broke the news on Twitter.
“Babuji nahi rahe (father is no more),” Ashutosh tweeted.
According to reports, Tandon was admitted to the Medanta Hospital in Lucknow in the second week of June after complaining of breathing problems, fever, and urinal issues.
Tandon, a BJP veteran, and protégé of Atal Bihar Vajpayee who served as a state minister in Uttar Pradesh between 1991 and 2003, was elected to the Lok Sabha from Lucknow in 2009. He was the governor of Bihar between August 2018 and July 2019, before being appointed the governor of Madhya Pradesh.
