SC summons chiefs of CBI, IB, Delhi Police in connection with CJI sexual harassment case
Justice SA Bobde, the senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, was on Tuesday (April 23) appointed to conduct an in-house inquiry into the allegations of sexual harassment levelled against Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi.
The court perused report of lawyer filed in sealed cover about allegations that there are some who manage verdicts. Upon enquiry, SC asked the chiefs of CBI, IB and Delhi Police to appear before it in connection with sexual harassment allegations against CJI.
“It isn’t an enquiry, we are meeting chiefs of CBI, IB, Delhi Police “in secret” and they will meet judges in chamber at 12:30 pm.”
Bobde said being the number two judge, the Chief Justice of India has appointed him to look into the allegations of sexual harassment charges levelled against him by a former woman staff.
Justice Bobde told that he has decided to form a panel by inducting two apex court judges, Justice NV Ramana and Justice Indira Banerjee.
“I decided to have Justice Ramana in the panel as he is next to me in seniority and Justice Banerjee as she is a woman judge,” Justice Bobde said.
