Jammu and Kashmir’s Awantipora is under the threat of a possible terrorist attack, according to information shared by Pakistan’s intelligence with India. The possibility of an improvised explosive attack (IED) has put security on high alert in the valley.

According to reports, the Pakistani government shared the information with the Indian High Commission in Islamabad and USA.

In what is being speculated, the attack is planned to avenge the death of Zakir Musa, founder and chief of terrorist outfit Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. Musa who was killed in an encounter in Tral, Kashmir in May 2019 was the member of Burhan Wani’s group.
A civil-engineering student in Chandigarh, Musa joined Hizbul Mujahideen sometime after 2013.

The sharing of information by Pakistan is being taken with a pinch of salt as speculations are rife that Pakistan might have a vested interest in warning India. The nation which is under fire globally for its support and funding to terror organisations has been grey listed under international Financial Action Task Force (FATF). Further, Indian government has been pushing for Pakistan to be put on black list of FATF after the Pulwama attack.
At the SCO summit in Bishkek, PM Narendra Modi in a veiled attack on Pakistan said that countries funding and aiding terrorism should be held accountable to counter the global menace.

In the 14 February Pulwama attack, 40 CRPF personnel were martyred when a car loaded with explosives crashed against the military convoy. The incident gathered global attention and Pakistan was widely criticized for its alleged role in supporting terrorism.

Four months after the unfortunate attack, the situation remains tense in Jammu and Kashmir with a number of encounters taking place day in and out.
