'Congress killed democracy': Javadekar slams party on 1975 Emergency
Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar on Thursday (June 25) slammed the Congress over the Emergency imposed in 1975, saying those who killed democracy 45 years ago are now questioning the government today.
The minister’s attack came on the 45th anniversary of the imposition of Emergency by the government which then led by Indira Gandhi.
Javadekar said that the Congress party which suppressed the entire system, ended the freedom of all and jailed scores of people, particularly from the opposition, are now raising slogans of freedom.
In a series of tweets, he criticized the party saying that Congress imposed the Emergency to save a family. He added that even after 45 years, the party is doing the same thing.
On 25 June 1975, Congress imposed an emergency to save a family. What the Congress is doing even today after 45 years is to save a family.#Emergency1975HauntsIndia
