Islamic State group claims responsibility for London attack

The Islamic State (IS) group on Saturday (November 30) claimed responsibility for a stabbing attack in central London the previous day that killed two people.

Without providing any evidence, Islamic State said that the attack was carried out in response to its calls to target citizens of the countries that have been part of a coalition fighting against the jihadist group.

“The person who carried out the London attack… was a fighter from the Islamic State, and did so in response to calls to target citizens of coalition countries,” IS said, referring to a multi-country alliance against the group.

28-year-old Khan stabbed five people at London Bridge. He was shot dead at the scene. According to reports, Khan was convicted in 2012 of terrorism offences and released in December 2018 “on the license”, which means he had to meet certain conditions or face recall to prison.
