After China had apparently deployed its troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the Indian Army has decided to build its strength along 3,488-km demarcation line that separates territories controlled by the two countries, NDTV reported.

According to the report, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), one of India’s border guard agencies, has also begun to shore up its posts with both soldiers and arms.

India had reportedly made this decision on June 20, after Lt General Paramjit Singh and Director General (ITBP) Surjeet Singh Deswal were briefed about the ground situation during their visit to Leh.

A senior government official had told NDTV that the Army had deployed some troops in Ladakh even before the Chinese side launched an attack that resulted in the deaths of at least 20 Indian soldiers. “We are enhancing the numbers,” the official said.

Earlier, satellite images showed incursions in the Ladakh region by China. The Army suspects that China had set up an observation post near the Patrol Point 14 in Galwan, where the Indian soldiers and an unconfirmed number of Chinese troops had died, Hindustan Times reported.
