Retaliatory firing by Indian Army inflicted heavy damages on the Pakistani troops on the side of Line of Control occupied by them in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, with fortified bunkers and ammunition storage building taking direct hits by anti-tank guided missiles.

In videos released by army sources, several Pakistani structures were seen being blown up as retaliation followed after Pakistan violated ceasefire along LoC by targetting positions in Dawar, Keran, Uri, Naugam and Kupwara sectors using mortars and other heavy weapons.

Four Indian security personnel and three civilians were killed in the action, reported NDTV. The Pakistani side also suffered heavy casualty due to the retaliatory firing, killing at least seven of their men and injuring around 10 others, according to news agency ANI.

Quoting an army source a report said that the Indian troops retaliated strongly and caused substantial damage to Pakistan Army’s infrastructure and casualties across the LoC. Several of their ammunition dumps and terrorists launch pads have been reportedly damaged.

Reports said Pakistan’s firing was a tactic to help terrorists infiltrate through Keran sector, which failed due to the alertness of the Indian troops. Last weekend, the army had stopped another infiltration attempt and three terrorists were shot head in the Machil sector.

“Suspicious movement was observed at the forward posts along the LoC in the Keran sector today. The suspected infiltration bid was foiled by alert troops. They fired mortars and other weapons. Befitting response is being given,” said defence spokesperson Col. Rajesh Kalia.

Almost all BSF units along the LoC are facing heaving firing since morning and an effective retaliation by the troops, artillery regiment and support weapons has been mounted, said a senior officer of the BSF, which works under the operational command of the Army at LoC.
