Actor Prakash Raj and CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat were among 15 noted personalities named in an unsigned letter threatening to eliminate them. Raj shared the letter on Twitter along with his reply, saying it was from a group of “cowards” and quoted the iconic Faiz Ahmad Faiz poem, “Hum Dekhenge (we’ll see)”.

Written in Kannada, the letter was addressed to Nijagunanda Swami, a prominent critic of the Sangh Parivar, and reportedly posted to his ashram in Belagavi. It named 14 others, including former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy. Karat replied to it saying, “These cowardly threats will never stop our work. Police should take note and take required action.”

Muhurtham for the samhara (elimination) of you and the dharmadrohis (anti-religion) and deshadrohis (anti-national) with you, has been fixed from 2020, January 29. Be prepared for your last journey, Nijagunanda Swamiji (you are not alone). See below. You have to prepare them also for the last journey. Preach them,” the letter read.

The letter then lists others and ends with “we will definitely eliminate all of you”.
