A Delhi sessions court on Friday (September 11) rejected the bail application of actor Rhea Chakraborty, actor and girlfriend of Sushant Singh Rajput, who was remanded to 14-day judicial custody after being arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on charges of drug dealings on Tuesday.

The bail plea of her brother Showik Chakraborty and other accused in the case were also turned down by the court.

The actor, who is facing parallel investigations by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) with regard to the death of her beau had gone back on her confession in the drugs case and told the court that she was “coerced into making self-incriminatory confessions.”

The NCB in its argument on Thursday (September 10), said that Rhea was aware that Sushant took drugs and made herself a part of it by procuring it. The agency said Rhea used her credit card and payment gateways to facilitate transactions for illicit drug trafficking and had made “voluntary confession” about her involvement during questioning.

NCB told the court that Sections 27A of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act will be applicable to Rhea as the drugs financed by her were not for her own consumption, but to supply to another person.

The agency also said that if released, Rhea could tamper with evidence and “win over witnesses using her position in the society and money power”.
