Corona scare: Chinese national throws up on Pune-bound flight, sent to hospital

Amidst fears over coronavirus, a 51-year-old Chinese national reportedly vomited twice on an Air India flight from New Delhi to Pune, following which he was admitted to Pune’s Naidu Hospital on Friday (February 7).

The aircraft, scheduled to return to New Delhi, was delayed by over four hours after it was sanitised thoroughly and sent to continue its journey back to the national capital.

According to Hindustan Times, Kuldeep Singh, director of Pune’s Lohagad airport confirmed the development and said as soon as the flight landed at Pune airport, the passenger was immediately sent to Pune Municipal Corporation’s Naidu Hospital.

Air India spokesperson Dhananjay Kumar said the passenger’s samples have been sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for testing.

Dr Ramchandra Hankare, head of the civic body’s health department said the Chinese national had symptoms, like cold and cough, of being infected with the coronavirus.
