While Chennai is reeling under the pressure of severe water crisis, the TN weatherman gave us hope and said that the city can expect rain after June 20. In his Facebook post, the Weatherman John Pradeep said that 191 days without rain in Chennai ‘might come to an end before hitting the rare 200 days after 20th June’.

He added that “Lack of strong sea breeze resulting in no convergence which in turn resulted in no rains in Chennai. Though monsoon is weak the lack of moisture is also one reason for lack of convective rains with dry westerlies moving in from West and Northwest. This is expected to change from 21st June and we can see a drop in Temperature from that period.”

June is the most horrible month for Chennaites compare to May, he added. Stressing on the importance of trees he stated, “Trees won’t bring rains. But trees will surely make it lot cooler on a hot day like today. Further don’t expect June and July rains in Chennai to solve water problem or ground water it ain’t going to happen. Meanwhile monsoon will pick up in Kerala, Karnataka and western ghats of Tamil Nadu from 21st June.”
