Bollywood makeup artist, auto driver held in drugs case related to Sushant's death

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), on Thursday (December 10), arrested Bollywood make-up artist and hairstylist, Suraj Godambe, and an auto rickshaw driver and drug peddler, Yadav, for possession of 11 grams and INR 56,000. They were caught by NCB's Mumbai Zonal Unit close to Meera Tower in Oshiwara, Mumbai, on Wednesday (December 9)

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) investigating the drugs case related to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput on Thursday (December 10) arrested Bollywood make-up artist and hairstylist Suraj Godambe and an auto rickshaw driver who acted as a  peddler for possession of 11 grams of cocaine. The arrest was recorded on Thursday after they were caught near Meera Tower in Mumbai’s Oshiwara on Wednesday (December 9).

The Mumbai Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s court put the duo in the custody of the NCB till December 16.

“Initial investigation revealed that one of the arrested persons, Suraj Godambe, is a hair stylist by profession,” NCB Mumbai zonal head, Sameer Wankhede, said.

It is alleged that the auto driver, whose name has been given as Yadav, had supplied  11 grams of cocaine in 16 packets seized to Godambe. According to officials, Yadav worked for a Nigerian Syndicate. Godambe is said to have worked with some of the top Bollywood production houses.

Following the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, the NCB has been cracking down on drug cartels in Bollywood, having questioned Bollywood actors such as Deepika Padukone and Arjun Rampal, and arresting comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Harish Limbachiyaa for possession of marijuana. Rampal’s girlfriend’s brother Agisilaos Demetriades was also arrested.

Recently, the NCB arrested drug suppliers, Jitendra Jain aka Jeet alias Rigel Mahakal, who is a DJ, and Mohammad Azam Jumman Shaikh. The NCB also seized Malana Cream Hashish, ecstasy pills, and money approximately of ₹2.63 crore from their possession.
