At least five people have been killed in a blast at a fireworks factory in Tamil Nadu’s Sivakasi on Thursday.
The blast took place at the Kalaiyarkurichi factory, leaving several workers badly injured.

Twenty-three people were killed when an explosion ripped through a fireworks factory near Suttur in the region on February 23. The blast occurred when some chemicals were being mixed to produce fireworks at the unit in Acchankulam village.
Sivakasi is known for its fireworks, matchbox and printing industries, which collectively employ more than 250,000 people. It is also well known for lax safety and frequent accidents.
