8 LeT inductees held for circulating threatening posters in J&K
Two days after terrorists attacked civilians in Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday (September 9) arrested eight people associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, sources said.
Police said the eight LeT associates were involved in threatening and intimidating locals by publishing posters. They were identified as Aijaz Mir, Omar Mir, Tawseef Najar, Imitiyaz Najar, Omar Akbar, Faizan Latief, Danish Habib and Showkat Ahmad Mir, news agency ANI reported.
Sources said Sajad Mir alias Haidar, an active terrorist in the locality and his aides Muddasir Pandith and Asif Maqbool Bhat engineered the plan to publish and circulate the posters in the area.
The three reportedly had inducted the eight associates to circulate the posters and intimidate locals. Police seized computers and other accessories used in drafting and publishing of posters from their possession. The investigation is underway.
The incident comes two days after four people including an infant were injured after terrorists opened fire at civilians in the Dangerpora area of Sopore district on September 7. On August 28, in a similar attack suspected terrorists had opened fire at Srinagar’s Parim Pora area, injuring a civilian.
