15 security men, one driver killed in Naxal attack at Gadchiroli

At least 15 security personnel and a driver were killed in an IED blast in the Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra on Wednesday (May 1), ANI reported.

Reports said Maoists triggered an improvised explosive device (IED) to blow up a police vehicle, carrying 16 security personnel from the Kurkheda Quick Response Team of Gadchiroli police. The blast happened between Jamborkheda and Lendhari, ANI reported the local police as saying.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack and tweeted, “Strongly condemn the despicable attack on our security personnel in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra. I salute all the brave personnel. Their sacrifices will never be forgotten. My thoughts & solidarity are with the bereaved families. The perpetrators of such violence will not be spared.”
