Later, he continued in the same form to score an Indian World Cup record of 63-ball century. He broke Kapil Dev's record (100 off 72). Rohit's record-breaking innings came to an end at 131 (84 balls, 16x4, 5x6))
Rohit went past Gayle's tally of 553 sixes in international cricket. The Indian skipper had started today's match needing 3 sixes to break the record and he did it.
The record from Rohit has come in 473 innings while Gayle took 551. Rohit has 77 sixes in Tests, 296 sixes in ODIs, and 182 sixes in T20Is.
During his innings in Delhi, Rohit also completed 1,000 runs in ODI World Cup history.
