Cong leader and Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala shot dead a day after security withdrawn
Sidhu Moosewala, Congress leader and Punjabi singer, was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district on Sunday, May 29. Two other people were injured in the firing. The incident took place a day after Punjab withdrew the security of 424 people, including Moosewala.
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu was popularly known by his stage name Sidhu Moosewala. The attack took place when he two of his friends were driving to their village Mansa in Punjab.
The police said that Moosewala has suffered bullet injuries. Further details are awaited.
The singer had joined the Congress in December last year. In the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections, he had contested from Mansa on a Congress ticket. He was defeated by the Aam Aadmi Party’s Vijay Singla.
