Doors still open for talks with Suvendu Adhikari: TMC

Trinamool Congress MP SaugataRoy on Saturday said doors are still open for talks withSuvendu Adhikari, who has resigned from his office as a WestBengal cabinet minister.

Roy, a veteran lawmaker tasked by the TMC top brass tohold parleys with Adhikari over his grievances, expressed hopethat the party leadership will hold talks with the strongman.

“Doors are still open for talks with Suvendu. Thereshould be discussions with him. I am hopeful of dialoguebetween Suvendu and the party leadership,” Roy said when askedabout retaining the popular leader in the party.

“Suvendus mother is unwell, so the talks may have towait till she gets well,” Roy, who also enjoys a cordialrelationship with Adhikaris father and Kanthi MP Sisir KumarAdhikari, said.

Suvendu Adhikari, who is reportedly unhappy with theparty top brass over some issues, has been holding apoliticalrallies for quite some time and has not attended cabinetmeetings chaired by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for thelast few months.

Roy has, on at least two occasions, discussed withAdhikari the issues that may be affecting him, before theheavyweight TMC leader resigned from the chairmanship ofHooghly River Bridge Commissioners (HRBC) on Thursday and hisministerial position in the Mamata Banerjee cabinet on thenext day.
