Heart ‘thumping with joy’: Rajinikanth shares pic with Bachchan from ‘Thalaivar 170’ sets

Thirty-three years after they starred together in the mega-hit Hum, superstars Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan have reunited for a Tamil film tentatively titled Thalaivar 170.
Rajinikanth on Wednesday (October 25) shared on X (Twitter) a picture with Bachchan from his vanity van on the sets of the film, saying his heart was “thumping with joy” at the opportunity to work again with Bachchan, his “mentor, the phenomenon”.
“After 33 years, I am working again with my mentor, the phenomenon, Shri Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming Lyca’s “Thalaivar 170” directed by T.J Gnanavel. My heart is thumping with joy!” read the caption.
In the photo, Rajinikanth is dressed in a white shirt, while Amitabh Bachchan has a pink-and-blue jacket and a bandana on.
Fans ecstatic
Needless to say, fans of both megastars were ecstatic. “Biggest Superstars of Indian Cinema…,” wrote one use.
“Respect always go higher whenever Rajini sir speaks :). What a human being he is.! Thalaiva for a reason! (sic),” wrote another.

Lyca Productions also retweeted Rajinikanth’s post with the caption, “The combo we all have been waiting to witness on-screen is back after 33 years!”
Multi-starrer
Lyca Productions had announced Bachchan joining Thalaivar 170 on October 3 with the caption: “Welcoming the Shahenshah of Indian cinema Mr. Amitabh Bachchan on board for #Thalaivar170. #Thalaivar170Team reaches new heights with the towering talent of the one & only @SrBachchan.”
Thalaivar 170 is being directed by TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim fame. The film also stars Fahadh Faasil and Rana Daggubati besides Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier, and Dushara Vijayan. Anirudh Ravichander will compose the music.
Bachchan and Rajinikanth last worked together in the 1991 film Hum, directed by Mukul Anand. The 72-year-old Rajinikanth has been quoted by the media as saying that his 170th film will be “a huge entertainer with a social message”.
Rajinikanth’s last film Jailer, directed by Nelson, has been a massive box-office hit. He will be seen in daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s Lal Salaam and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s next.
