We all have one subject that we hated studying in school. And for most, it would certainly be Mathematics. Practicing calculus and geometry, and solving algebra equations to find out x’s values occupied the better part of our school life.

But there were students who absolutely loved the subject. India has given the world some very intelligent mathematicians who changed the whole ball game in the world of calculations, the likes of which include Aryabhata, Brahmagupta, Mahavira and Bhaskara II.

In this league of extraordinary mathematicians, Srinivasa Ramanujan was another prodigy. He made crucial contributions to mathematical analysis, infinite series, number theory and continued fractions.

It was on his birth anniversary, December 22, the Indian government in 2012 announced the day to be celebrated as National Mathematics Day every year.

The contributions by several other prominent mathematicians have made the world easier as we know it now. Inspired by these geniuses, we have compiled a list of best movies ever made on mathematics and mathematicians.
