With many government employees in Odisha's Kendrapara district shunning election duty on health ground, the district administration has asked them to get themselves examined at a government health camp

With a large number of government employees seeking exemption from election duty on medical ground, the Kendrapara district administration in Odisha has ordered health check-up of those employees, an official said on March 29.

“We have ordered health check-up of people who are deputed on poll duty but have sought exemption from it on medical ground. As large number of applications reached us seeking exemption, the administration has been compelled to conduct health check-up,” said Kendrapara collector Dasarathi Satpathy.

He said the objective of the health check-up is to gauge the genuineness of government employees seeking exemption from election duty on medical ground.

On March 30, those seeking exemption from poll duty have been directed to appear before a medical board comprising doctors of district headquarters hospital, the collector said.
If the medical board certifies the employee unfit to do poll duty, then the applicant would be exempted from election duty, Satpathy said.
