Actor-turned politician Shatrughan Sinha was officially inducted into the Congress party in Bihar on Saturday (April 6). Welcoming him to the party, Randeep Surejwala, Congress spokesperson, said, “People of Sinha’s eminence will be a valuable asset to the Congress. His enthusiasm, youthfulness and respect for the elderly, speaks volumes about him.”
“One of the best parliamentarians and politicians is joining the Congress. He was in the wrong party earlier, now he is in the right party. Rahul (Gandhi) has overwhelmingly welcomed him in INC,’ said KC Venugopal, Alappuzha MP, welcomed Sinha.
Sinha’s entry to the INC will give us the boost needed in our fight against anti-democratic forces like the BJP, he added.
Echoing Surejwala’s thoughts, Shaktisinh Gohil, AICC spokesperson, Bihar said that Sinha’s entry to the Congress will strengthen the party. ‘Modi-Shah (Amit) silence anyone who voice their opinion against them. There is internal dictatorship in Gujarat. None of the local parties or BJP has done anything for Bihar in the past five-years.
Speaking at the induction, Shatrughan Sinha goofed up while thanking Gohil, citing him as the BJP spokesperson instead of Congress. He swiftly brushed this aside saying that he is new to the party and would need some time to get used to the Congress. ‘On the 40th founding day of BJP, I’m glad to have left the party behind and joined Congress. In BJP, it is one man show and two-men army referring to Modi-Shah).’
He lashed out at the BJP high command for ignoring stalwarts like LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Yashwant Sinha and said that the party had been recruiting random people, claiming their membership in the party. While the reality was the fact that not many active members are there with the party, he claimed.
‘All the decisions are made from the PMO and ministers are afraid to raise their concern against the high command. I’m saddened to say that BJP has not done anything right on its founding day. I voiced my opinion against several wrongdoings like demonetisation, GST, farmer suicides and unemployment, but the plea went unheard,’ he added.
Speaking about the speculation of his dismissal from BJP, he said that he left the party before they have a choice to decide on it. Sinha represents Bihar’s Patna Sahib seat in the Lok Sabha.
