Modi gives full credit to party workers for 2019 poll victory

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 27 (Monday) gave full credit to the BJP’s workers at grassroots level for the party’s victory in the recently-concluded Lok Sabha elections.

In his first visit to Varanasi since he was elected as a Member of Parliament for a second term from the constituency, he said that chemistry has triumphed over poll arithmetic, while thanking Varanasi voters for electing him by a huge margin.

“Political analysts will have to accept that beyond poll arithmetic there is a chemistry,” he told party workers. “For the country I am the PM, but for you I am your MP, I am your sevak,” he said.
“Work and workers create wonders,” the Prime Minister said, giving full credit for the party’s victory to the workers at the grassroots level for creating awareness about his government’s policies and programmes for the people. Uttar Pradesh is showing the way for India, he said.

The Prime Minister also expressed his intent to make India the third largest economy. He attacked the opposition for creating a false perception, ahead of the polls, about the outcome of the elections. He further said that the workers of the BJP battled the perception with hard work. The Prime Minister further added that there is no alternative to hard work and transparency.

Thanking the people of Varanasi for reposing faith in him, he said that no other candidate could have been more relieved than him when the counting was on.

Calling himself a BJP worker first, he added that he the workers have doen a wonderful job on account of which the party returned to power.

The Prime Minister also spoke of importance of “perfect synergy” between the government and the party. Modi said he was grateful to his opponents.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also lamented there was a sense of political untouchability. BJP workers were being killed for their ideology in West Bengal, Tripura and Kerala, he said.
Recently, a BJP leader was killed in Amethi in the first post-poll violence in Uttar Pradesh.
Modi also offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi. Under his leadership, the Bharatiya Janata Party won 303 seats in the Lok Sabha.
