The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has asked all states and Union Territories to stay alert against possible eruption of violence. The MHA caution comes in the midst of heavy police deployment across the country to ensure the smooth counting of votes and subsequent announcement of results for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

The MHA has reportedly sent a note in this regard to all chief secretaries and directors general of police (DGPs) asking them to make security arrangements.

Reports said there could be violence in the backdrop of the announcement of results and the UTs and states shoudl take steps to ensure peace and tranquility.

The note, reports said, came in the wake of ‘calls from various quarters to incite violence.’
