DMDK, a constituent of the AIADMK-led alliance announced its list of candidates for the four constituencies it has been allotted for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

According to the party, LK Sudish, brother-in-law of party founder Vijayakant, has been given Kallakurichi to contest from. In the remaining three seats of Virudhunagar, North Chennai and Trichy, R Alagarsamy, Alagapuram R Mohanraj and Dr V Elangovan have been fielded respectively.

It is to be noted that DMDK was the last-but-one to join the alliance as the negotiations were lengthy and protracted. Initially, it was adamant on being treated on par with the PMK which was allotted seven seats. But finally it came around to accepting what was offered, namely four seats.

It remains to be seen how the party will fare at the hustings given the fact that actor-turned-politician Vijayakant is not in a position to campaign aggressively given his poor state of health.
