Update: 2019-05-30 11:23 GMT

Narendra Modi is sworn in as Prime Minister by President Ramnath Kovind. His cabinet, comprising nearly 65 ministers, is also being administered the oath at Rashtrapati Bhavan. All minister-designates have taken their designated seats and will take oath in that order.

In the run-up to finalising the names for the Cabinet berths, PM Modi and BJP president Amit Shah held three rounds of discussion. Some of the seniors like Nirmala Sitaraman and Rajnath Singh have retained their slots while BJP president Amit Shah has come in. Sources said all efforts were being taken to represent various regions including Odisha, West Bengal and the north-east as the BJP has done well in all the three places. Also, states that are scheduled to go to polls in the next few months is also being accommodated. With the country giving a back-to-back majority to Modi for the first time in 30 years, all eyes are on the charismatic leader’s prospective cabinet.
