Candidates who pass the common eligibility test will go onto the higher level tests which can be taken at examination centres that will be opened in every district.

A sign of relief for the students of Master of Computer Application (MCA) from the upcoming academic year.

Now, the three-year course has been reduced to two-year, to benefit the students and colleges. In addition, the deployed faculties will be posted for newer programmes and classrooms meant for the three-year course will be used for other courses.

The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), that worked with the University Grants Commission to cut the tenure of the three-year MCA course, said the move was prompted by the fact that the number of students coming in from unrelated streams such as commerce, arts and basic science had fallen.

According to reports, the three-year programme was started in late 1990.
