Top professionals honoured at Y’s Men International meet in Chennai

At 40th India Area Convention in Chennai, the association launched a centenary stamp and announced projects such as kidney dialysis, care for cancer patients, and home for homeless for the coming year

Padma Bhushan Dr A Sivathanu Pillai was presented the Centenary Lifetime Achievement award for his contributions to the field of aerospace while the Centenary Lifetime Excellence Award was presented to Prof Dr JA Jayalal, Immediate Past National President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), for his exemplary work in the field of surgery.

The senior scientists were honoured at the 40th India Area Convention of Y’s Men International, held at Hotel Hilton in Chennai on June 11 (Saturday). The event marked the centenary celebrations of Y’s Men International, which was founded in Ohio, US, in 1922.

Projects launched

A centenary stamp was released during the convention. Besides, projects such as kidney dialysis, care for cancer patients, home for homeless, geriatric care and many more were planned for the coming year.

Dr. Kim Sang-Chae, International President of YMI from Korea; Jacob Kristensen, Immediate Past International President from Denmark, T.M. Jose, International Treasurer and other leaders of Y’s Men International were present.

Past International President VS Bashir was the chief patron & advisor along with Past Area President Thomas V John, Chairman, for the Convention. The India region of Y’s Men International consists of eight regions and extends to Middle East countries.

Dr Anand Jacob Varghese was installed as the India Area President of YMI for the year 2022-23 by  Dr Kim Sang-Chae, International President of YMI.
